Getting an organisation to the point where it trusts its numbers, knows what to do with them, and can keep that going without me. Each service below can stand alone or combine, depending on where the bottleneck is.
Business intelligence & dashboards
Reporting that answers the question people actually asked, in a tool they will keep opening.
I design and build in Tableau and Power BI, from a single executive dashboard through to a governed self-service estate with proper data sources behind it. Just as important is the rollout: training, documentation and the small nudges that turn a dashboard from a link somebody sent once into part of a weekly routine.
Good fit if
- You have a BI tool but adoption has stalled
- Reporting is manual, spreadsheet-based, or stuck with one person
- Leadership wants a single view and keeps getting three
- You need a first proper dashboard and do not know where to start
AI strategy & agents
An honest read on where AI helps you, followed by something working rather than another slide deck.
Most AI conversations start in the wrong place, with a tool rather than a task. I start with where your people lose time and where knowledge is hard to reach, then work out which of those a language model can genuinely improve. Where the case holds up, I build it: semantic layers that give AI a reliable view of your data, and agents that let people ask questions in plain English.
Good fit if
- The board is asking about AI and nobody owns the answer
- You have run pilots that never made it into production
- Your knowledge is real but scattered and hard to search
- You want people to query business data without learning SQL
Data governance & quality
The unglamorous work that decides whether anything else you build gets believed.
I audit what you currently report, find where definitions diverge, and put a workable standard around them: an agreed metric dictionary, clear ownership, documented lineage and dashboard conventions people can actually follow. Sized to the organisation, so a fifty-person company gets something proportionate rather than an enterprise framework nobody reads.
Good fit if
- Two teams report different figures for the same measure
- Nobody can say where a number came from
- Dashboards have multiplied and nobody knows which are current
- You need governance that is proportionate, not bureaucratic
Agile delivery & product ownership
A way of working that makes priorities visible and progress predictable, without ceremony for its own sake.
I set up Scrum or Kanban to suit the team you have rather than the one in the textbook, get Jira and Confluence configured so the board reflects reality, and establish the governance around it: intake, prioritisation, RAID, planning. I also step in as a fractional product owner where you need someone holding the backlog and the stakeholders together.
Good fit if
- Work gets done but nobody can see what is in flight
- Everything is urgent and prioritisation happens by volume
- Jira exists but has drifted from how the team really works
- You need a product owner but not a full-time one
Three ways to work together
Any of the four services can be delivered in any of these shapes. We agree which makes sense once I understand the problem.
Diagnostic
A short, fixed-scope piece of work: interviews, a review of what exists, and a written set of findings and recommendations you can act on with or without me. Typically one to three weeks.
Project
Defined outcome, agreed scope, delivered in short cycles with something visible at the end of each. Ends with documentation, training and handover to your team.
Fractional & retained
An agreed number of days a month as your head of BI, AI lead or product owner. Suits organisations that need senior ownership but not a full-time hire.
Quoted per engagement
I do not publish a rate card, because a two-week diagnostic for a twenty-person business and a governance programme for a global function are not the same conversation. Tell me the problem and I will come back with a scope and a fixed price or day rate, whichever fits better.
